Barrington is a suburban town in Bristol County, Rhode Island, situated approximately 7 miles southeast of Providence. The town was founded by Congregationalist separatists from Swansea, Massachusetts and was incorporated in 1717. It was later merged into Warren in 1747 by Rhode Island but was separated as its own town again in 1770.
