Tips for Prepping to Sell Your Home in the Fall Season

The end of summer is approaching fast, and if you are thinking of putting your house on the market this upcoming fall season, there are a few key tips that you should keep in mind to prepare it for showings. Especially living in New England, weather can be totally unpredictable, so it is important to do your best to stay ahead of the game. Check out some of our top tips here:

  1. Prepare photos of your home early. Once leaves begin falling and trees become bare, photos of the exterior of your home may not be as aesthetically pleasing as they would be in the summer months. Make sure to get some photos of the exterior of your home in warmer weather so that potential buyers can get a full look at it and view it in a brighter, more inviting setting.
  2. Clean up the interior of your home. Because it will be chillier, people will spend less time outside and more time checking out the interior. Because the interior will be the primary focus, make sure that any small damages are fixed, everything is cleaned up and clutter is organized and tucked away.
  3. Pay attention to curb appeal. The appearance of your front yard and curb is more important than ever in the fall! Make sure to pay attention to your curb and clean up any dirt or leaves that might blow onto it. Keep your curb as clean-cut as possible, especially for showings. Also, be sure to not over decorate, which could distract potential buyers.
  4. Utilize your lights. The colder it gets, the darker it also becomes. Make sure during showings that you utilize all your exterior and interior lights so that each room is easy to see. The more lights that you have on, the more welcoming your house will become, as well, which will be very appealing to people coming to check it out.
